Himanta Biswa Sarma urges government to align with Assam people

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is planning to cut down VIP services. He asked to keep government functions simple and serve only vegetarian food or satvik food.

During a meeting with Deputy Commissioner he asked, “Only simple vegetarian meals are to be served at all official meetings. This rule shall not apply to state guests.”

Assam CM asked official to align with the people of the state, Assam to what they appreciate. The government has also urged to cut down on vehicles and barricades related to Chief Minister’s security.

Earlier the Assam CM has also announced, “We are ending the VIP Culture rule of paying electricity bills of Government officials using tax payer money. Myself and the Chief Secretary will set an example and start paying our power bills from July 1 onwards. Beginning July 2024, all public servants will have to pay for their own electricity consumption.”
