Port Blair, August 13, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds over the next few days. The forecast includes isolated downpours ranging from 7 to 11 cm, accompanied by lightning and wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph.
Under the influence of strong southwest monsoon currents, sea conditions around the islands are expected to be rough to very rough. As a result, fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea until conditions improve. Local Cautionary Signal No-III has been hoisted at Port Blair ports to alert maritime operators.
The Directorate of Disaster Management has urged residents and coastal communities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Emergency contact numbers have been activated across districts, including Campbell Bay, Kamorta, Hut Bay, Car Nicobar, Havelock, and Ferrargunj, to assist in case of any weather-related emergencies.
