In a landmark partnership aimed at expanding access to advanced artificial intelligence tools across India, Google and Reliance Jio have announced that eligible Jio users will receive complimentary access to the Gemini AI Pro plan for 18 months. The offer, valued at ₹35,100, is part of the newly launched “Jio Youth Offer” and is targeted at Gen Z users aged 18 to 25.
The Gemini AI Pro plan includes access to Google’s latest Gemini 2.5 Pro model, which supports multimodal capabilities such as text, image, and video understanding. Subscribers will also receive 2TB of free cloud storage, advanced AI video and image editing tools, and integration with Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, and Slides.
To activate the offer, users must subscribe to Jio’s unlimited 5G plans priced at ₹349 or higher. Once eligible, the Gemini Pro subscription can be claimed directly through the MyJio app. The offer is available nationwide and is expected to significantly boost AI adoption among India’s youth.
Reliance Jio stated that the partnership combines its vast telecom network with Google’s AI innovation to democratize access to cutting-edge technology. “This initiative is designed to empower young Indians with tools that enhance creativity, learning, and productivity,” said a Jio spokesperson.
Google echoed the sentiment, highlighting India as a key growth market for AI. The company emphasized that Gemini Pro’s capabilities—such as summarizing research papers, assisting with coding, and generating multimedia content—can help students, developers, and creators accelerate their work.
The announcement follows similar moves by other telecom providers, including Airtel’s partnership with Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s rollout of ChatGPT Go in India. Analysts view the Google-Jio alliance as a strategic step to capture the next wave of AI users in the world’s most populous country.
Industry experts believe this offer could reshape how young Indians interact with AI, making premium tools more accessible and fostering innovation at the grassroots level.
