Forecast for parts of the A&N Islands through June 12: Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain, and Rough Seas

Over the next three days, the Directorate of Disaster Management has issued a weather advisory that predicts thunderstorm activity with gusty winds and lightning in certain areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Forecasts indicate that on June 10 and 11, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty gusts of 40 to 50 kmph are likely to occur in one or two locations throughout the islands. Additionally, on June 10 and again on June 12, isolated areas are expected to get severe rainfall of 7 to 11 cm.

With squally weather and surface wind speeds of 35 to 45 kmph with gusts up to 55 kmph, the sea conditions around the Andaman Sea and the A&N Islands are expected to stay rough. Because of the current dangerous conditions, fishermen have been strongly recommended to refrain from going out into the sea along and off the Andaman Sea and A&N Islands until June 12.
