Finance Bill 2025 clears Lok Sabha with 35 government amendments

The Finance Bill 2025 was passed in the Lok Sabha with 35 government amendments. These amendments include significant changes such as the removal of the 6% digital tax on online advertisements, also known as the “Google Tax.” This move aims to align India’s trade policies with global standards and reduce uncertainties in international economic engagements.

Additionally, the amendments focus on boosting domestic manufacturing by exempting customs duties on 35 capital goods for EV batteries and 28 for mobile manufacturing. The bill also simplifies tax structures and rationalizes tariffs to support local industries.

The passage of this bill marks a crucial step in the budgetary approval process for the fiscal year 2025-26.
