Ex-Business Partner of MS Dhoni Arrested in 15 Crore Fraud Case

In response to a fraud case that cricket player MS Dhoni lodged, Jaipur Police have detained a former business associate of Dhoni. The former captain of India’s childhood friend, Mihir Diwakar, was hauled up late on Wednesday night from Noida Sector-16. The case claimed that Mr. Diwakar, a former cricket player as well, had defrauded Mr. Dhoni of more than ₹ 15 crore by breaching a contract. In 2017, Mr. Dhoni entered into a partnership with Mr. Diwakar and his wife Soumya Vishwas at Aarka Sports and Management Limited, where they agreed to develop cricket academies both in India and outside.

The case claimed that although Aarka Sports was required to pay the franchise fee and divide revenues with Mr. Dhoni, the terms and conditions had been broken. However, the company is said to have started opening academies without telling Mr. Dhoni and without paying for them. Dayanand Singh, the attorney for Mr. Dhoni, stated that although the permission letter that was given to them was withdrawn in 2021, the company went ahead and established sports complexes and cricket schools in his name without disclosing any financial or personal information to him.

Through his attorney, Mr. Dhoni had said that the company had broken the terms of the deal, costing him around 15 crore. The managing editor of the company, Mr. Diwakar, who began his career at the same time as Mr. Dhoni and competed for India in the 2000 Under-19 World Cup, displayed the company’s website. Late on Wednesday night, a Jaipur police team arrived in Noida and arrested Mr. Diwakar. The Noida Police assert, however, that they were not formally notified of the arrest.
