Election Commission notifies BJP leader Nadda about PM Modi’s alleged violations of the model code

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has filed charges alleging that BJP President J.P. Nadda violated the Model Code of Conduct. The Election Commission of India has sent notice to Nadda for an answer from the party. The BJP has been ordered to respond by April 29th, according to the ECI. In response to the BJP’s allegations against Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge received a similar notification. While Mr. Modi, Mr. Gandhi, or Mr. Kharge were not specifically mentioned in the letters the EC issued to the two party presidents, the submissions it received were attached to the corresponding letters and included specifics of the accusations made against the three leaders.

As a preliminary move, the ECI has called for the party presidents to rein in prominent campaigners under Section 77 of the Representation of the People Act.It is anticipated of Star Campaigners to elevate the conversation by offering an all-Indian viewpoint, which is occasionally warped in the fervor of local elections. Therefore, Senior Principal Secretary Narendra N. Butolia wrote in a letter to Mr. Nadda that “when intensity of local campaign disrupts or inadvertently crosses over such boundaries, the expectation from Star Campaigners is to provide corrective action or a sort of healing touch.”

It said, A higher standard of compliance must be applied to their statements made during the campaign. The Star Campaigners are required to use this privilege for “propagating the platform of the political parties.” On April 23, the ECI announced that it would look into the complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks at a rally in Rajasthan, where he stated that the Opposition Congress would divide up people’s gold, land, and possessions among Muslims if they were elected to power at the Center.

However, the BJP has informed the EC in writing that, while giving a speech in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Rahul Gandhi made false and extremely serious accusations against Modi. Furthermore, it claimed that Kharge had broken the model code by not being invited to the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple because of prejudice against SCs and STs.
