Draft Houseboat Tourism Policy: A&N Administration Requests Public Comment

The Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T) of the Andaman and Nicobar (A&N) Administration has announced the release of a draft ‘Policy for Development and Promotion of Houseboat Tourism in the A&N Islands. The goal of this project is to protect the islands’ natural resources, increase houseboat tourism while making sure it is done sustainably and responsibly, and improve the entire experience for guests.

A framework for the operation of houseboats is outlined in the draft policy, with an emphasis on a number of crucial areas, including regulatory compliance, navigational safety, and environmental considerations, which include the requirement for adequate sewage treatment facilities.

The draft policy is up for public evaluation in an attempt to involve the community and pertinent stakeholders. IP&T’s Directorate is seeking ideas, feedback, and contributions from the general public, stakeholders in the tourist sector, and departments inside the organization.
