Diljit Dosanjh has posted the film Punjab ’95 being‘censored before release’ as cinema body targets Sardar Ji 3

Despite receiving mixed reviews for his recent whodunit comedy Detective Sherdill, which premiered on ZEE5 last week, Diljit Dosanjh faces challenges regarding his theatrical releases. His period investigative thriller Punjab ’95 remains stalled at the censors, and his new Punjabi film Sardarji 3 has also encountered calls for a boycott due to the involvement of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Following the release of the trailer for his upcoming Punjabi movie, Sardaar Ji 3, which features Hania, Diljit has experienced significant backlash on social media. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has addressed a letter to the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, urging them to “withhold certification of the film Sardaarji 3, which includes Pakistani artists.” This controversy arises in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, succeeded by India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7, during which air strikes targeted terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Following the Pahalgam incident, several Pakistani artists, including Hania Aamir, found their social media accounts inaccessible in India.
Following the Pulwama attack in 2019, which resulted in the deaths of 40 CRPF personnel, FWICE has implemented a comprehensive ban on Pakistani artists, encompassing actors, musicians, and technicians, in the Indian film industry. In the meantime, Diljit Dosanjh revealed on his Instagram on Monday that the trailer for the horror-comedy franchise will be released exclusively abroad on June 27. Currently, the trailer for Sardaar Ji 3 is not available on YouTube India, but it has been posted by Diljit on his Instagram account.
The movie, inspired by the life of human rights advocate Jaswant Singh Khalra, was scheduled for a global release next month without any edits, with the exception of India.
