Diljit Dosanjh addresses ‘Sardaarji 3’ controversy and Pahalgam attack

Singer-turned-actor Diljit Dosanjh talked on the recent India-Pakistan match, the Pahalgam terror attack, and the controversy surrounding his movie “Sardaarji 3” with Pakistani star Hania Aamir. He said at his Kuala Lumpur performance that the match happened after the assault, but his film was shot prior to it. He stated that even though he has a lot of answers to offer, he has decided to keep quiet up to this point in the widely shared concert footage. Oh, mere desh da jhanda hai, which is the flag of my nation. As he saluted the flag of his country, he remarked, “Always show respect.” The audience then gave him permission to talk about a few topics. “The matches were in progress when I shot Sardaarji 3 in February,” he remarked.

Diljit conveyed his grief at the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 persons, primarily tourists. “The tragic Pahalgam terror attack occurred after that,” he stated. We have consistently prayed for the terrorists to be severely punished both then and today. The match was played following the attack, although my footage was shot prior to the assault. He gave an explanation at the end as to why he had been silent for so long. I had a lot of answers, but I remained silent and kept everything to myself. I remained silent. I have a lot of answers. You shouldn’t internalize the poison that anyone tells you. That’s what life has taught me. So I remained silent. There are many more things I could say, but I’d rather not.”

Earlier this year, Diljit faced a lot of backlash for the cast of “Sardaar Ji 3,” which featured Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. The filmmakers’ choice to release the movie anywhere but India was also criticized. In addition to demanding that the film industry boycott him, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) tried to have their Indian citizenship revoked. Later, the order was withdrawn. In the meantime, he just finished filming “Border 2,” his next movie. ‘Border 2’, which was directed by Anurag Singh, has a strong ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The movie will be available on January 23, 2026.
