Diglipur Police Seize 37 Kg of Sea Cucumbers, Detain Two Individuals in Major Operation

Acting on credible intelligence, the Diglipur Police intercepted and seized a substantial quantity of illegally possessed sea cucumbers, leading to the detention of two individuals involved in the illicit trade.

Based on specific information, a police team launched a search operation at Navin Nagar, Diglipur, targeting two suspects—Santosh Kumar and Athinas Bose—who were allegedly in possession of a large quantity of sea cucumbers. The operation was led by Inspector Vijay Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Diglipur, along with Sub-Inspector Abdul Shakil and police constables Bijoy Kr. Sarkar, Yasir Arafath, and Pawan Singh.

During the search, the police recovered 37 kilograms of illegally held sea cucumbers, along with materials used for drying and processing them. The seized items included four 50-kg salt bags, plastic drums, a heater, and a gas stove. The suspects were identified as Santosh Kumar (42), a resident of Hut Bay, and Athinas Bose (40), a resident of Marudupandiar Nagar, Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu.

Following legal procedures, the confiscated sea cucumbers and processing materials were handed over to forest officials for further investigation and necessary action. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ramesh Kumar Singh, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and under the overall direction of Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
