Congress Sidelines Tharoor in Operation Sindoor Delegation, BJP Calls It ‘Jealousy

In a political twist surrounding India’s diplomatic outreach, the Congress party has chosen to exclude senior leader Shashi Tharoor from its list of nominees for the multi-party delegation on Operation Sindoor. Instead, the party put forward the names of Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, Raja Brar, and Anand Sharma.

The move has sparked sharp reactions from the BJP, with party leaders questioning whether Tharoor was sidelined due to internal party dynamics. BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya took to social media, suggesting that the Congress leadership was uncomfortable with anyone who might overshadow the party’s high command.

Tharoor, a seasoned diplomat and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, was ultimately included in the delegation by the government, despite his absence from the Congress list. He welcomed the decision, emphasizing that national interest should take precedence over party politics.

The delegation, comprising representatives from multiple parties, is set to visit key global capitals to present India’s stance on terrorism and its response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack. The Congress, meanwhile, has maintained that its nominations were made in good faith, but the exclusion of Tharoor continues to fuel speculation about internal party tensions.
