CITU Stages Protest Over Labour Codes in Sri Vijaya Puram

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) organised a protest in Sri Vijaya Puram on Thursday against the newly notified labour codes, voicing strong opposition to what they termed as anti-worker policies.

Hundreds of workers gathered under the banner of CITU, raising slogans and demanding the withdrawal of the four labour codes introduced by the central government. Union leaders argued that the new framework dilutes existing labour rights, weakens collective bargaining, and places workers at a disadvantage in matters of job security and social welfare.

Addressing the gathering, CITU representatives stated that the codes favour corporate interests while undermining protections for ordinary workers. They emphasised that the protest was part of a larger nationwide campaign to safeguard workers’ rights and ensure fair treatment in workplaces.

The demonstration concluded with a call for intensified struggles across industrial regions, urging both state and central governments to engage in meaningful dialogue with trade unions before implementing sweeping changes in labour laws.
