Chairperson election for the fourth year of the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council to take place

On April 24, 2025, a special meeting has been set up to elect the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) Chairperson for the fourth year of the 2022–2027 term. The Municipal Council’s Conference Hall will host the meeting at 11:00 AM. All 24 elected members of the SVPMC received the notice, which was sent by the Office of the Director of Panchayat and Municipal Elections (Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman). The election of the Chairperson and giving the newly elected Chairperson the Oath of Allegiance are on the agenda.

According to the guidelines outlined in Sections 20(1) and 14 of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Municipal) Regulation, 1994, as well as Section 197 of the same regulation, the processes will be carried out. In order to ensure that the election is conducted smoothly, the Secretary of the SVPMC has been instructed to make sure that all elected members receive the notice. As it begins the fourth year of its current term, this election represents a significant milestone in the democratic operation of the municipal council.
