BJP Criticises Congress Over ‘Headless Kurta’ Post, Calls It Divisive

The BJP has strongly criticized the Congress over a controversial social media post featuring a headless kurta-pyjama ensemble with the caption “Gayab” (missing). The post, widely interpreted as a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence from an all-party meeting following the Pahalgam terror attack, has sparked a heated political debate.
The BJP alleged that the image bore a resemblance to the extremist slogan “Sar Tan Se Juda” and accused the Congress of promoting violent imagery and divisive politics. BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya described the post as a “dog whistle” aimed at appeasing the Muslim vote bank and a veiled threat to the Prime Minister.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur and other BJP leaders condemned the Congress, suggesting that the post sent a message of support to Pakistan and terrorists. The controversy escalated further when former Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry reshared the image with a mocking caption, which BJP leaders cited as evidence of the Congress’s alignment with adversarial narratives.
The Congress defended its post, stating that it was a critique of the Prime Minister’s absence during a critical meeting and denied any political agenda. However, the BJP has continued to accuse the Congress of divisive tactics, with some leaders likening the party to “Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress”.
The debate has intensified the political rivalry between the two parties, with both sides exchanging sharp remarks in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives.
