‘BJP approached me,’ Atishi claimed in her lawsuit, adding that ‘won’t let her escape’
In response to Delhi minister Atishi’s allegation that the BJP approached her and threatened to put her in jail, the Delhi BJP stated on Wednesday that it has sent her a legal notice. “We won’t allow her to get away this time. She needs to respond and back up her claims with proof. We requested an apology from her by Tuesday night. She didn’t, therefore Virendra Sachdeva, the head of the Delhi BJP, stated, “We have sent her a legal notice, to which she must reply within 15 days.”
Atishi made a shocking statement on Tuesday, claiming that the ED was now focusing on her, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Durgesh Pathak, and Raghav Chadha following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Atishi claimed that she was approached by a close BJP member who threatened to arrest her and the other AAP leaders unless they joined the party. The BJP leaders categorically denied the claim, telling Atishi to give the person’s identity. The BJP accused Atishi of lying, claiming that there was no position open in the party for a leader such as Atishi.
Delhi BJP threatened to take legal action against Atishi if she did not respond to the legal notice within the allotted period after it was sent. “Our party does not have a position open for a political activist such as Atishi. Rahul Gandhi, a yuva leader, claimed that a BJP employee had declared that the constitution will be destroyed if the party won 400 seats. Nobody has made a statement like that. Given that the entire BJP is mired in a liquor fraud, I doubt any BJP employee will approach Atishi and make such a statement. Are we really going to have a headache from inviting them to our party?” stated Hardeep Singh Puri, a union minister.
On any legal notification, Atishi has not yet provided a statement. In a significant development for the Aam Aadmi Party, Sanjay Singh was given bail in the same liquor policy case, even though the Supreme Court ruled that his bail could not be used as precedent in any other similar case. Arvind Kejriwal is expected to remain in Tihar until April 15.
