Billiground Police Seize 1.167 Kg of Ganja, One Suspect Arrested

Billiground, July 15, 2025 — In a decisive anti-narcotics operation, Billiground Police apprehended a suspect and seized 1.167 kilograms of ganja on Monday evening. The arrest was made following a tip-off regarding illegal drug possession and distribution in the region.

According to law enforcement officials, the accused was intercepted near the town’s main junction while allegedly attempting to transport the contraband in a concealed package. Upon inspection, officers recovered the ganja and took the individual into custody for questioning.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, is believed to have links to a broader network involved in the procurement and distribution of narcotics across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Authorities have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and initiated further investigation to trace the source and destination of the seized material.

Senior officials from the Billiground Police Station stated that the operation was part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in the region. “We are committed to curbing the spread of narcotics and ensuring public safety. This seizure is a step forward in our efforts,” said a spokesperson.

The accused is currently being held in police custody and will be produced before the local magistrate for remand. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
