Sri Vijaya Puram, August 19, 2025 — As part of its ongoing commitment to holistic health and nutrition education, AYUSH Hospital recently conducted a series of awareness sessions centered on the theme “Soyameal – A Complete Protein Alternative.” The initiative aimed to educate in-patients and their families on the nutritional benefits of soyameal and its role in promoting overall wellness.
The primary session, held on August 16 within the hospital premises, featured interactive discussions led by a multidisciplinary team of medical officers. Dr. Manabika Dutta, Medical Officer In-Charge (Homoeopathy), emphasized the importance of incorporating soyameal into daily diets, citing its rich protein content and essential amino acids. Dr. Nandini, Medical Officer (Yoga & Naturopathy), highlighted soyameal’s contribution to heart health, bone strength, glucose metabolism, and immune function, urging patients to promote its use within their households.
To make the sessions more practical and engaging, Dr. Supria Arangi, Medical Officer (Homoeopathy), shared easy-to-prepare soyameal recipes tailored for Indian kitchens. Dr. Vaishali, Medical Officer (Ayurveda), and Smt. Mariamma, Nursing Officer In-Charge, distributed informative handbills to patients and staff, reinforcing the key takeaways from the session.
A follow-up awareness programme was conducted at the hospital’s OPD Complex, focusing on soyameal’s preventive health benefits. Additionally, a dedicated session was organized for yoga class participants at the Yoga Hall, integrating nutritional education with a guided yoga practice to promote holistic wellness.
The awareness drive, supervised by Dr. Kalyan P. Kadbhane, Deputy Director (AYUSH), witnessed active participation from over 105 individuals, including patients, caregivers, and hospital staff. Participants appreciated the informative and interactive nature of the sessions, which aligned with the Government of India’s broader efforts to popularize soyameal as a sustainable and complete protein alternative across communities.
This initiative reflects AYUSH Hospital’s integrated approach to health promotion, combining traditional systems of medicine with contemporary nutritional science to empower patients with practical, culturally resonant wellness strategies.
