An awareness session on the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls was conducted at Andaman Law College, Port Blair, with the aim of educating students about the importance of electoral participation and the procedures involved in voter registration.
The session was organized under the guidance of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, as part of its voter awareness campaign. Officials from the Election Department addressed the gathering, highlighting key aspects of the revision process, including the eligibility criteria for new voters, correction of existing entries, and the use of digital platforms such as the Voter Helpline App and NVSP portal.
Students were encouraged to actively participate in the democratic process by ensuring their names are correctly listed in the electoral rolls and by spreading awareness among peers and family members. The session also emphasized the role of youth in strengthening electoral democracy and the significance of informed voting.
Faculty members of Andaman Law College expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that such sessions help bridge the gap between legal education and civic responsibility. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students clarified doubts regarding voter ID applications, address changes, and the upcoming electoral schedule.
The Special Summary Revision is scheduled to continue until the end of November, with designated officers available at polling stations and online platforms to assist citizens in updating their voter information.
