Autorickshaw Driver Nabbed with Cannabis at Tugapur Junction

In a late-night anti-narcotics operation, Mayabunder Police apprehended a 33-year-old autorickshaw driver at Tugapur Junction for allegedly transporting cannabis concealed inside a speaker box.
Acting on a tip-off, Inspector Abdul Sajid, Station House Officer of PS Mayabunder, formed a raiding team under the supervision of the SDPO of Diglipur. The team, comprising police and forensic personnel, intercepted the autorickshaw around 8:30 PM. Two local residents were present as independent witnesses during the search.
Upon inspection, officers discovered two plastic packets hidden inside a speaker. The contents — flowering and fruiting parts of the cannabis plant — were tested on-site using a forensic drug detection kit and confirmed to be ganja, weighing approximately 194 grams.
The driver was informed of his legal rights prior to the search. Following standard procedures, both the contraband and the vehicle were seized. The accused has been booked under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking in the region.
