At the Statue of Unity, Prime Minister Modi unveiled 25 brand-new electric buses valued at Rs 30 crore

As part of a significant push towards eco-friendly transportation and sustainable tourism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the opening of 25 freshly constructed electric buses valued at Rs 30 crore at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Narmada district, on the eve of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birthday. With this expansion, Ekta Nagar now has 55 e-buses in operation, giving visitors a cost-free, cozy, and environmentally responsible way to get around the region.

In keeping with his larger vision of clean mobility and sustainable development, the Prime Minister’s green transport plan seeks to turn Ekta Nagar into India’s first “E-City” model. The new air-conditioned e-buses are 9 meters long and have a range of 180 kilometers on a single charge. They offer unique accessibility features for passengers with disabilities, such as a hydraulic lift for convenient boarding and alighting, and were created with inclusivity in mind. To further guarantee comfort and security, four pink seats have been set aside for ladies.

“Ekta Nagar is not just a tourist destination; it is a living example of environmental consciousness and sustainable growth,” Prime Minister Modi remarked during his remarks. The installation of e-buses will guarantee guests more contemporary amenities, less noise pollution, and better air. In order to encourage carbon-neutral travel and lower vehicle emissions in the region, the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SOUADTGA) has gradually implemented a number of electric transportation options, such as e-cars, e-rickshaws, and now e-buses, as part of the “India’s First E-City” initiative.
