Shaheed Dweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands — The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has issued a public notice inviting applications for sea sand collection permits at Shaheed Dweep. This initiative is part of the administration’s regulated approach to resource management, aimed at supporting local development while ensuring environmental sustainability.

According to the official notification dated August 23, 2025, individuals, contractors, and registered firms interested in collecting sea sand for construction and infrastructure purposes may apply for permits under the prescribed guidelines. The collection will be permitted only from designated coastal zones, and all activities must comply with the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms.

Applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Proof of identity and residence
  • A detailed project proposal specifying the quantity and purpose of sand collection

  • A signed undertaking to adhere to ecological and regulatory standards

Applications must be submitted either in person at the local administrative office in Shaheed Dweep or through the official portal of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The deadline for submission is set for the end of the current quarter.
