ANTCC President calls for action on damaged water pipelines in some villages of Mayabunder tehsil
Mr. Rangalal Halder, the president of the Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), has formally called for prompt action to fix the damaged water pipelines that are preventing some Mayabunder Tehsil villages from receiving water. Mr. Halder emphasized the continuous issue impacting the villages of Rampur, Karmatang, Mayabunder, Pokadera, and Webi in a letter to the Chief Engineer of the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD). Mr. Halder underlined the dire repercussions of the pipeline damage, which have significantly affected access to enough clean water for everyday purposes including cooking, drinking, and sanitation. He was especially worried about the hazards to the citizens’ health and hygiene that the insufficient water supply posed.
Mr. Halder also brought attention to the substantial water waste caused by the damaged pipelines in his letter. He cautioned that if the problem is not resolved right now, it may worsen the region’s already scarce water supplies and put further strain on them. The President of the ANTCC has emphasized the severity of the situation for public health and well-being by urging the APWD to act quickly and effectively to restore water access to the impacted communities.
