Port Blair, July 15, 2025 — The Andaman and Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) paid heartfelt homage to Bharat Ratna K. Kamaraj on his 123rd birth anniversary, honoring the legacy of the revered freedom fighter, former Chief Minister of Madras, and past President of the Indian National Congress.
A solemn tribute ceremony was held at the Kamaraj statue located at Dairy Farm Junction, led by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker. Party leaders and workers gathered to offer floral tributes and reflect on Kamaraj’s enduring contributions to education, public welfare, and democratic values.
Among the attendees were Mr. K. Ganeshan, Chief Spokesperson; Mr. Abdul Shabir, Treasurer; Mr. John Robert Babu, District President; Mr. Chamba Shanmugam, Congress Leader; Mr. M. Vikram, Youth Congress Leader; and Mr. Akshay, Joint Secretary of Seva Dal. The gathering emphasized Kamaraj’s pivotal role in shaping post-Independence India through initiatives such as the Midday Meal Scheme, which revolutionized access to education for underprivileged children.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Halder reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Kamaraj’s vision of inclusive growth and social justice, stating, “His life was a testament to simplicity, integrity, and tireless service. We must carry forward his ideals in today’s political and social landscape.”
The tribute coincided with similar commemorations across Tamil Nadu and other parts of India, where leaders from various political parties—including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge—also paid respects to Kamaraj’s legacy.
The ANTCC concluded the program with a pledge to uphold Kamaraj’s principles in its ongoing political and social initiatives, reinforcing his status as a guiding light for generations to come.
