Andaman & Nicobar Rolls Out 30 Government Services on National Single Window System for Business Efficiency

The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has successfully onboarded 30 government services onto the National Single Window System (NSWS) Portal, marking a significant step towards digital governance and improving Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the Union Territory. This initiative, led by the District Industries Centre (DIC), Department of Industries, aims to streamline public service delivery, reduce bureaucratic delays, and facilitate seamless access to approvals and clearances through a unified platform.

Objective
The primary goal of this integration is to provide entrepreneurs, investors, and citizens with a single digital interface for regulatory approvals across seven key departments. The NSWS Portal enhances administrative efficiency and ensures faster decision-making by centralizing all relevant services.

Overview of Integrated Services
The integrated services span across multiple sectors, including tourism, electricity, education, fire safety, labor compliance, consumer affairs, and fisheries. Some key services now accessible via the portal include:

  • Tourism: Online permissions for film shooting, parasailing, and sea kart services; registration for tour operators, transport providers, and home-stay providers.
  • Electricity: Applications for new electric connections (low-tension and high-tension).
  • Education: Digital submission of provisional school recognition applications.
  • Fire Safety: Online processing of fire clearance certificates.
  • Labor Compliance: Approvals for factory layout plans, construction and expansion permissions, and contractor licensing under labor laws.
  • Consumer Affairs: Licensing under the Legal Metrology Act, registration for packers, manufacturers, and importers, and fair price shop allotments.
  • Fisheries: Permits for sport fishing, fish transportation, and registration of fish traders, cooperatives, and self-help groups.

Process of Application and Access
Applicants must register on the NSWS Portal using their email address and mobile number, with PAN verification done via DigiLocker or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC). Once registered, users can create a business profile, which serves as the foundation for future applications. The portal features a Know Your Approvals (KYA) module, offering users a customized list of required approvals and licenses based on their business type.

Applications can be submitted digitally through the dashboard, where users can fill structured online forms, upload necessary documents, and make payments as applicable. The portal ensures real-time tracking of application status, with approved certificates and licenses available for digital download.

Support and Accessibility
To aid users, the NSWS website offers detailed user guides and official documentation on registration, profile creation, and approval processes. These resources are available at NSWS User Guide.

For additional assistance, users can visit the District Industries Centre (DIC) at Udyog Parisar, Middle Point, or contact the support team via phone (03192-232819 / 232601) or email (dicandaman@gmail.com).

Conclusion
The integration of government services into the NSWS Portal underscores the Andaman & Nicobar Administration’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and digital inclusion. This initiative is expected to enhance investor confidence, simplify regulatory processes, and establish the Union Territory as a business-friendly destination. As departmental websites transition to redirect users to the NSWS platform, stakeholders are encouraged to leverage the system for hassle-free approvals and compliance management.
