Andaman & Nicobar Islands commemorates National Book Week 2024 from November 14–20

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands will commemorate National Book Week 2024 from November 14–20. The State Library in Sri Vijaya Puram has arranged a ‘Book Exhibition’ featuring a wide variety of books as part of the celebration, organized by the Education Department. In addition to novels, children’s books, personality development, competitive exams, biographies, cooking, mythology, fantasy, science fiction, and the history of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the exhibition showcases more than 850 volumes on a wide range of subjects.

Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, Directorate of Education, was the chief guest and gave the event its opening. Along with enthusiastic readers, he was joined by Mr. S. Suresh Kumar, Deputy Director Education (Plg. ), Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director Education (Science), Ms. M. V. Jolly, Deputy Director Education (Perl), and other Education Department officials. Mr. Dubey stressed the value of reading and the critical role libraries play in promoting knowledge in his inauguration address.

He encouraged everyone to see the show, which runs through November 20, 2024, at the State Library in Sri Vijaya Puram. To celebrate the joy of reading and encourage reading habits in both children and adults, the National Book Week event seeks to unite community members, educators, and book enthusiasts. In addition to the exhibition, schoolchildren will participate in a number of events during the week, such as storytelling, elocution, drawing, and book reading contests.
