Andaman and Nicobar Islands unveil the draft Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme

The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has introduced the Draft Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme, 2024, a major step in regulating the aggregator industry. This program is in line with Section 93 of the modified Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act) of 2019, which states that no one may act as an aggregator without first getting the required license from the appropriate state authorities.

With the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s consent, the UT’s Draft Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme was created using the Central Government’s Draft Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme, 2024, as a basis. The proposed plan seeks to promote the expansion of regional transportation services while guaranteeing adherence to national standards.

The public can now view the draft on the Departmental website, where they can submit claims and objections. Feedback from interested parties and stakeholders is requested within 30 days of the publishing date, which is October 9, 2024. The administration’s dedication to openness and stakeholder participation is demonstrated by this public consultation phase, which aims to establish a strong framework for motor vehicle aggregators in the A&N Islands.
