On June 23, 2025, schools in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands observed the first International Olympic Day. The event was arranged by the Sports Section of the Directorate of Education at Sri Vijaya Puram, which actively pushed schools to commemorate the day in a meaningful way. To commemorate the anniversary, schools held a range of activities, including Olympic-themed awareness classes, drawing contests, and a variety of sporting events. Students avidly engaged in athletics, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, and other activities.
The celebrations provided an open forum for pupils to demonstrate their abilities while also promoting togetherness, discipline, and national pride. The lively engagement across schools demonstrated a rising interest in athletics and emphasized the importance of collaboration and fair play.
The Director (Education) and the Sports Section of the A&N Administration played critical roles in organizing these events, reinforcing their commitment to cultivating a strong athletic culture and promoting students’ physical and moral growth through structured sports activities.
