A&N Farmers Welcome ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ with Optimism

Farmers across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have embraced the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan with enthusiasm, actively participating in the nationwide agricultural outreach campaign aimed at empowering farmers with modern techniques and government support.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, launched by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, is designed to bridge the gap between scientific research and grassroots farming. The campaign, running from May 29 to June 12, 2025, seeks to connect 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts through direct engagement with agricultural experts, scientists, and policymakers.
In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, farmers have welcomed the initiative, attending workshops and interactive sessions led by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) scientists. These sessions focus on sustainable farming practices, climate-resilient crops, soil health management, and advanced irrigation techniques.
Officials have emphasized the importance of region-specific agricultural strategies, ensuring that farmers receive tailored guidance suited to the unique climatic and soil conditions of the islands. The campaign also highlights government schemes, including subsidies for organic farming, micro-irrigation, and crop diversification, aimed at boosting productivity and farmer incomes.
Farmers have expressed optimism about the initiative, citing its potential to increase yields, reduce costs, and improve market access. The campaign has also facilitated direct interactions between farmers and policymakers, allowing them to voice concerns and receive immediate solutions.
With the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan gaining momentum, agricultural experts believe it will play a crucial role in strengthening food security, enhancing rural livelihoods, and driving India’s vision of a developed agricultural sector.
