Amit Shah and J&K leaders honor Pahalgam terror victims in Srinagar tribute ceremony

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar on Wednesday to honor the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The bodies of the deceased, killed in the ambush on Tuesday, were brought to the PCR earlier in the day to ensure their dignified return to their respective native states.
Following the tribute ceremony, Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag to meet those injured in the attack. He is also expected to conduct an aerial survey of Baisaran, Pahalgam, where the tragic incident took place.
In a coordinated effort to assist the repatriation process for the victims’ bodies, the Civil Aviation Ministry has arranged additional flights from Srinagar—two to Mumbai and two to Delhi. The ministry is also monitoring airfares to prevent price surges, as the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has remained closed for a fourth consecutive day.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrived in Srinagar and will visit Pahalgam to gather forensic evidence and identify leads on the perpetrators behind the heinous attack. Security forces have intensified search operations in the region, working relentlessly to track down those responsible.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation across the nation, with candlelight vigils, protests, and unified calls to stand against terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his profound sorrow over the incident, asserting that the tragedy has only strengthened the nation’s determination to eradicate terrorism.
A complete shutdown was observed across the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday, as businesses, transportation, and schools closed in solidarity with the victims. Sparse vehicular movement was reported, reflecting the profound impact of the incident on daily life in the region.
