Air India Express Passenger Arrested After Attempting to Enter Cockpit Mid-Flight

New Delhi, September 22, 2025 — A passenger aboard an Air India Express flight was arrested upon landing after allegedly attempting to breach the cockpit during mid-flight, triggering a serious security alert.

The incident occurred on Flight IX-194, operating from Muscat to Kochi, when a male passenger reportedly tried to force his way into the cockpit while the aircraft was cruising at altitude. According to airline sources, cabin crew intervened swiftly, restraining the individual and ensuring the safety of passengers and flight operations.

“The crew followed standard safety protocols and subdued the passenger with the help of fellow travelers,” an Air India Express spokesperson said. “At no point was the cockpit compromised, and the flight landed safely at Kochi International Airport.”

Upon arrival, the passenger was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police for further investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the individual may have been under the influence or experiencing psychological distress, though authorities have not confirmed the motive.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken cognizance of the incident and is expected to conduct a detailed inquiry. Aviation experts have reiterated the importance of crew training and reinforced cockpit security measures, especially in light of increasing mid-air disruptions globally.

No injuries were reported, and all passengers disembarked safely. The airline has assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies and emphasized its commitment to passenger safety.
