AH&VS Department acts to meet rising duckling demand

The Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) Department has launched new measures to address the growing demand for ducklings in the region. With an increasing number of farmers and poultry enthusiasts turning to duck farming as a viable source of income, the department aims to boost production and streamline distribution.
Duck farming has gained popularity due to its low maintenance costs, high egg production rates, and disease resistance. The AH&VS Department has introduced special breeding programs to ensure a steady supply of high-quality ducklings. Additionally, the department is working on improving hatchery facilities and providing subsidies to farmers interested in expanding their duck farming operations.
Under the new initiative, farmers from marginalized communities, including SC/ST, women, transgender individuals, and differently-abled persons, will receive financial assistance and training to help them establish sustainable duck farms. The program also includes vaccination drives to ensure the health and longevity of the ducklings.
The department has set a target to distribute thousands of ducklings across various districts, with a focus on integrated farming practices that combine duck rearing with other agricultural activities. Officials believe that these measures will enhance rural livelihoods, improve nutritional security, and contribute to the overall growth of the poultry sector.
