Actor and singer Badshah from “Baahubali” testifies in an illegal IPL streaming case

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia was called in relation to the marketing of an offshoot app for the Mahadev online betting and gaming platform, according to sources on Thursday. The actor has been contacted by the Maharashtra cyber cell for his alleged promotion of watching IPL matches on the Fairplay betting app. Mrs.Bhatia, who has starred in films like “Baahubali” and “Lust Stories 2,” has been summoned as a witness and told to appear before the cyber cell the following week. A complaint was brought by a broadcaster, which claimed that the app was being used to unlawfully stream some IPL matches.

The statements of actor Sanjay Dutt and actress Jacqueline Fernandez’s managers, as well as singer Badshah, have already been recorded by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. FairPlay is a betting exchange website that provides a huge selection of sports and entertainment wagering options. The website for the app states that tennis, football, and cricket are the three most popular sports on FairPlay. According to the website, FairPlay offers live streaming of all sporting events so that users may “watch and win at the same time”. The online gambling app Mahadev, which also offers facilities for unlawful betting in other live games like football card games, cricket, poker, badminton, tennis, and poker, has a subsidiary called FairPlay.

Last year, the Enforcement Directorate called celebrities Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, who had starred in the app’s advertisements, to be questioned about the Mahadev betting app. This generated headlines. Following a 200-crore cash-only wedding in the United Arab Emirates in February of last year, the app found itself in the crosshairs of investigative agencies. Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, both from Dubai, ran the Mahadev Online betting app. They are both Bhilai from Chhattisgarh.

Earlier, the corporation would frequently launch new websites and private chat groups on chat apps in an effort to attract new users. To get money, they would frequently try to convince users to text their numbers in order to receive paid adverts on social media platforms. Over a year has passed since the ED began looking into the money laundering case connected to the Mahadev app. In the past, the ED has claimed that its investigation has shown the involvement of several high-ranking Chhattisgarh politicians and bureaucrats. The ED estimates that around ₹ 6,000 crore was earned through this crime.
