A significant acc!dent took place in Sri Vijaya Puram when a Suzuki Ecco van, transporting seven schoolchildren, lost control and fell into a roadside drain located in front of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown.
The driver reportedly lost control while navigating a slope from the Attam Pahad area to Dollygunj, resulting in the van colliding with a wall before plunging into the deep drain.
It is suspected that the driver experienced brake failure. Local shopkeepers and bystanders quickly rushed to the scene, successfully rescuing all seven children, including one who had his leg trapped in the mud.
Preliminary medical evaluations indicated that all children were safe, although some sustained minor injuries and scratches.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the driver, and further investigations are currently underway.
