A blood donation camp was held at Pondicherry University

The Red Ribbon Club of Pondicherry University received assistance from the Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) in setting up a blood donation camp on February 19, 2025, in cooperation with the Directorate of Health Services and the Blood Center at G.B. Pant Hospital. The university’s Department of Ocean Studies and Marine Biology hosted the camp. Voluntary donors contributed 36 units of blood in total.

Each donor received a briefing on the importance and advantages of donating blood, as well as a medical examination to assess eligibility. In order to maintain high safety standards, a technical team from the Blood Centre, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram, and ANACS made sure that every donated blood unit was thoroughly checked for pathogens that can be transmitted through transfusions. The program sought to raise awareness of the vital role that volunteer blood donation plays in saving lives.
